DescriptionEvery year, the Centre for International and Professional Experience (CIPE) team at Yale-NUS College sends the freshmen population to different locations around the world to learn via "experiential learning"-- also known as the Week 7 project.
Each CIPE Week 7 Learning Across Boundaries (LAB) is unique, and designed by faculty and CIPE officers to ensure that each student is able to learn about cultures and traditions in their most prevalent contexts.
Rachel, an Admissions Student Associate and class of 2020, was part of the group of students that was sent to Tokyo, Japan. There, she learned about performing cultures in Japan, and how it has shaped the nation.
Some highlights of the trip includes meeting Japan's "Living National Treasure" of Kabuki theatre, Master Kichiemon; attending exclusive Noh and Kogen workshops with the Kanzen Family of performing arts, and meeting members of parliament at the National Diet of Japan and discussing pertinent questions on culture, and what it means to have a national identity.CreatorYale-NUS CollegeDate04-OCT-2016FormatVideoContributorRachel ('20)LanguageEnglishLength00:03:04PublisherYale-NUS CollegeLocationTokyo
